[Originally reported by juve@…]
(Previous versions of i3 used approximately 3 - 3.5 MB resident memory (RSS), but 4.5 shows to be using 29 MB resident both in "top" and "ps ux". I've compiled i3 with -DPANGO_SUPPORT=0 along with DEBUG=0 and DEBUG=1. Is this large increase in memory usage expected with 4.5?

Thanks for the hint, this is due to a human mistake in the release process. The version thinks of itself as a debugging version and therefore enables 25 MiB of shared memory logging by default. You can turn that off by passing --shmlog-size 0 when starting i3 for now. We will most likely do a bugfix release anyway, so it will be fixed then.

this was fixed with the release of 4.5.1
