[Originally reported by mickael9@…]
(Using a french keymap (german does it too, and probably others do as well), the input characters are read incorrectly, as if the AltGr key was pressed while typing the password.

For instance, typing 'hello' gives this debug output using fr keymap :

[i3lock-debug] current password = ħ€
[i3lock-debug] current password = ħ€ł
[i3lock-debug] current password = ħ€łł
[i3lock-debug] current password = ħ€łłø

Holding Shift (or using capslock) gives the correct HELLO.
Holding AltGr doesn't change anything.

Maybe related : numeric keypad works only if numlock is disabled

I think this commit is the problem:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config/commit/symbols/level3?id=05dcc6db64cd7425aea6d22efd6a3ecf34dbddd2

I have emailed the libxkbcommon authors about it, let’s see what they say.

There is a fix available at bluetech/libxkbcommon@8bfc998

I will update this ticket once I know when this is gonna land in a new upstream release.
